हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्। तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः।।

Transliteration in English

hato vā prāpsyasi swargaṁ jitvā vā bhokṣhyase mahīm tasmād uttiṣhṭha kaunteya yuddhāya kṛita-niśhchayaḥ

हतो वा प्राप्स्-यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्य-से महीम् तस्माद-उत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृत-निश्चयः

Word Meaning

hataḥ—slain; vā—or; prāpsyasi—you will attain; swargam—celestial abodes; jitvā—by achieving victory; vā—or; bhokṣhyase—you shall enjoy; mahīm—the kingdom on earth; tasmāt—therefore; uttiṣhṭha—arise; kaunteya—Arjun, the son of Kunti; yuddhāya—for fight; kṛita-niśhchayaḥ—with determination

शब्दार्थ

हतः – मारा जा कर; वा – या तो; प्राप्स्यसि – प्राप्त करोगे; स्वर्गम् – स्वर्गलोक को; जित्वा – विजयी होकर; वा – अथवा; भोक्ष्यसे – भोगोगे; महीम् – पृथ्वी को; तस्मात् – अतः; उत्तिष्ठ – उठो; कौन्तेय – हे कुन्तीपुत्र; युद्धाय – लड़ने के लिए; कृत – दृढ; निश्र्चय – संकल्प से |

Translation

O son of Kuntī, either you will be killed on the battlefield and attain the heavenly planets, or you will conquer and enjoy the earthly kingdom. Therefore, get up with determination and fight.

अनुवाद

हे कुन्तीपुत्र! तुम यदि युद्ध में मारे जाओगे तो स्वर्ग प्राप्त करोगे या यदि तुम जीत जाओगे तो पृथ्वी के साम्राज्य का भोग करोगे | अतः दृढ़ संकल्प करके खड़े होओ और युद्ध करो |

Even though there was no certainty of victory for Arjuna’s side, he still had to fight; for, even being killed there, he could be elevated into the heavenly planets.

There is provision of the slain people in war to go to heavenly planets. So even if Arjuna die in war or win the war, he is going to enjoy either residence in heavenly planet or kingdom at material world.

युद्ध में मारे गए लोगों को स्वर्गलोक में जाने का प्रावधान है। तो भले ही अर्जुन युद्ध में मर जाए या युद्ध जीत जाए, वह या तो स्वर्ग में निवास करने वाला है या भौतिक संसार में राज्य का आनंद लेने वाला है।
