सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु। साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते।।

suhṛin-mitrāryudāsīna-madhyastha-dveṣhya-bandhuṣhu sādhuṣhvapi cha pāpeṣhu sama-buddhir viśhiṣhyate

Word Meaning

su-hṛit—toward the well-wishers; mitra—friends; ari—enemies; udāsīna—neutral persons; madhya-stha—mediators; dveṣhya—the envious; bandhuṣhu—relatives; sādhuṣhu—pious; api—as well as; cha—and; pāpeṣhu—the sinners; sama-buddhiḥ—of impartial intellect; viśhiṣhyate—is distinguished

शब्दार्थ

सु-हृत्– स्वभाव से; मित्र– स्नेहपूर्ण हितेच्छु; अरि– शत्रु; उदासीन– शत्रुओं में तटस्थ; मध्य-स्थ– शत्रुओं में पंच; द्वेष– ईर्ष्यालु; बन्धुषु– सम्बन्धियों या शुभेच्छुकों में;साधुषु– साधुओं में; अपि– भी; च– तथा; पापेषु– पापियों में; सम-बुद्धिः– समान बुद्धि वाला; विशिष्यते– आगे बढ़ा हुआ होता है |

Translation

A person is considered still further advanced when he regards honest well-wishers, affectionate benefactors, the neutral, mediators, the envious, friends and enemies, the pious and the sinners all with an equal mind.

अनुवाद

जब मनुष्य निष्कपट हितैषियों, प्रिय मित्रों, तटस्थों, मध्यस्थों, ईर्ष्यालुओं, शत्रुओं तथा मित्रों, पुण्यात्माओं एवं पापियों को समान भाव से देखता है, तो वह और भी उन्नत माना जाता है |
