सक्ताः कर्मण्यविद्वांसो यथा कुर्वन्ति भारत। कुर्याद्विद्वांस्तथासक्तश्र्चिकीर्षुर्लोकसग्रहम्।।

saktāḥ karmaṇyavidvānso yathā kurvanti bhārata kuryād vidvāns tathāsaktaśh chikīrṣhur loka-saṅgraham

सक्ताः कर्मण्य-विद्वांसो यथा कुर्वन्ति भारत कुर्याद्-विद्वांस्-तथा-सक्तश्-र्चिकीर्-षुर्-लोक-सग्रहम्

Word Meaning

saktāḥ—attached; karmaṇi—duties; avidvānsaḥ—the ignorant; yathā—as much as; kurvanti—act; bhārata—scion of Bharat (Arjun); kuryāt—should do; vidvān—the wise; tathā—thus; asaktaḥ—unattached; chikīrṣhuḥ—wishing; loka-saṅgraham—welfare of the world

शब्दार्थ

सक्ताः– आसक्त; कर्मणि– नियत कर्मों में; अविद्वांसः– अज्ञानी; कुर्वन्ति– करते हैं; भारत– हे भरतवंशी; कुर्यात्– करना चाहिए; विद्वान– विद्वान; तथा– उसी तरह; असक्तः– अनासक्त; चिकीर्षुः– चाहते हुए भी, इच्छुक; लोक-संग्रहम्– सामान्य जन |

Translation

As the ignorant perform their duties with attachment to results, the learned may similarly act, but without attachment, for the sake of leading people on the right path.

अनुवाद

जिस प्रकार अज्ञानी-जन फल की आसक्ति से कार्य करते हैं, उसी तरह विद्वान जनों को चाहिए कि वे लोगों को उचित पथ पर ले जाने के लिए अनासक्त रहकर कार्य करें |

A person in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and a person not in Kṛṣṇa consciousness are differentiated by different desires. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person does not do anything which is not conducive to development of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. He may even act exactly like the ignorant person, who is too much attached to material activities, but one is engaged in such activities for the satisfaction of his sense gratification, whereas the other is engaged for the satisfaction of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, the Kṛṣṇa conscious person is required to show the people how to act and how to engage the results of action for the purpose of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

अभयचरणारविंद भक्तिवेदांत स्वामी श्रील प्रभुपाद द्वारा व्याख्या

एक कृष्णभावनाभावित मनुष्य तथा कृष्णभावनाभाहीन व्यक्ति में केवल इच्छाओं का भेद होता है | कृष्णभावनाभावित व्यक्ति कभी ऐसा कोई कार्य नहीं करता जो कृष्णभावनामृत के विकास में सहायक न हो | यहाँ तक कि वह उस अज्ञानी पुरुष की तरह कर्म कर सकता है जो भौतिक कार्यों में अत्यधिक आसक्त रहता है | किन्तु इनमें से एक ऐसे कार्य अपनी इन्द्रियतृप्ति के लिए करता है, जबकि दूसरा कृष्ण की तुष्टि के लिए | अतः कृष्णभावनाभावित व्यक्ति को चाहिए कि वह लोगों को यह प्रदर्शित करे कि किस तरह कार्य किया जाता है और किस तरह कर्मफलों को कृष्णभावनामृत कार्य में नियोजित किया जाता है |
