यदक्षरं वेदविदो वदन्ति विशन्ति यद्यतयो वीतरागाः। यदिच्छन्तो ब्रह्मचर्यं चरन्ति तत्ते पदं संग्रहेण प्रवक्ष्ये।।

Translation

Persons who are learned in the Vedas, who utter oṁ-kāra, and who are great sages in the renounced order enter into Brahman. Desiring such perfection, one practices celibacy. I shall now briefly explain to you this process by which one may attain salvation.

अनुवाद

जो वेदों के ज्ञाता हैं, जो ओंकार का उच्चारण करते हैं और जो संन्यास आश्रम के बड़े-बड़े मुनि हैं, वे ब्रह्म में प्रवेश करते हैं | ऐसी सिद्धि की इच्छा करने वाले ब्रह्मचर्यव्रत का अभ्यास करते हैं | अब मैं तुम्हें वह विधि बताऊँगा, जिससे कोई भी व्यक्ति मुक्ति-लाभ कर सकता है |

सर्वद्वाराणि संयम्य मनो हृदि निरुध्य च। मूर्ध्न्याधायात्मनः प्राणमास्थितो योगधारणाम्।।

Translation

The yogic situation is that of detachment from all sensual engagements. Closing all the doors of the senses and fixing the mind on the heart and the life air at the top of the head, one establishes himself in yoga.

समस्त ऐन्द्रिय क्रियाओं से विरक्ति को योग की स्थिति (योगधारणा) कहा जाता है | इन्द्रियों के समस्त द्वारों को बन्द करके तथा मन को हृदय में और प्राणवायु को सिर पर केन्द्रित करके मनुष्य अपने को योग में स्थापित करता है |

ओमित्येकाक्षरं ब्रह्म व्याहरन्मामनुस्मरन्। यः प्रयाति त्यजन्देहं स याति परमां गतिम्।।

Translation

After being situated in this yoga practice and vibrating the sacred syllable oṁ, the supreme combination of letters, if one thinks of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and quits his body, he will certainly reach the spiritual planets.

अनुवाद

इस योगाभ्यास में स्थित होकर तथा अक्षरों के परं संयोग यानी ओंकार का उच्चारण करते हुए यदि कोई भगवान् का चिन्तन करता है और अपने शरीर का त्याग करता है, तो वह निश्चित रूप से आध्यात्मिक लोकों को जाता है |

Translation

For one who always remembers Me without deviation, I am easy to obtain, O son of Pṛthā, because of his constant engagement in devotional service.

हे अर्जुन! जो अनन्य भाव से निरन्तर मेरा स्मरण करता है उसके लिए मैं सुलभ हूँ, क्योंकि वह मेरी भक्ति में प्रवृत्त रहता है |

मामुपेत्य पुनर्जन्म दुःखालयमशाश्वतम्। नाप्नुवन्ति महात्मानः संसिद्धिं परमां गताः।।

Translation

After attaining Me, the great souls, who are yogīs in devotion, never return to this temporary world, which is full of miseries, because they have attained the highest perfection.

मुझे प्राप्त करके महापुरुष, जो भक्तियोगी हैं, कभी भी दुखों से पूर्ण इस अनित्य जगत् में नहीं लौटते, क्योंकि उन्हें परम सिद्धि प्राप्त हो चुकी होती है |

आब्रह्मभुवनाल्लोकाः पुनरावर्तिनोऽर्जुन। मामुपेत्य तु कौन्तेय पुनर्जन्म न विद्यते।।

Translation

From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode, O son of Kuntī, never takes birth again.

इस जगत् में सर्वोच्च लोक से लेकर निम्नतम सारे लोक दुखों के घर हैं, जहाँ जन्म तथा मरण का चक्कर लगा रहता है | किन्तु हे कुन्तीपुत्र! जो मेरे धाम को प्राप्त कर लेता है, वह फिर कभी जन्म नहीं लेता |

सहस्रयुगपर्यन्तमहर्यद्ब्रह्मणो विदुः। रात्रिं युगसहस्रान्तां तेऽहोरात्रविदो जनाः।।

Translation

By human calculation, a thousand ages taken together form the duration of Brahmā’s one day. And such also is the duration of his night.

मानवीय गणना के अनुसार एक हजार युग मिलकर ब्रह्मा का दिन बनता है और इतनी ही बड़ी ब्रह्मा की रात्रि भी होती है |

अव्यक्ताद्व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे। रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंज्ञके।।

Translation

At the beginning of Brahmā’s day, all living entities become manifest from the unmanifest state, and thereafter, when the night falls, they are merged into the unmanifest again.

ब्रह्मा के दिन के शुभारम्भ में सारे जीव अव्यक्त अवस्था से व्यक्त होते हैं और फिर जब रात्रि आती है तो वे पुनः अव्यक्त में विलीन हो जाते हैं |

भूतग्रामः स एवायं भूत्वा भूत्वा प्रलीयते। रात्र्यागमेऽवशः पार्थ प्रभवत्यहरागमे।।

Translation

Again and again, when Brahmā’s day arrives, all living entities come into being, and with the arrival of Brahmā’s night they are helplessly annihilated.

जब-जब ब्रह्मा का दिन आता है तो सारे जीव प्रकट होते हैं और ब्रह्मा की रात्रि होते ही वे असहायवत् विलीन हो जाते हैं |

परस्तस्मात्तु भावोऽन्योऽव्यक्तोऽव्यक्तात्सनातनः। यः स सर्वेषु भूतेषु नश्यत्सु न विनश्यति।।

Translation

Yet there is another unmanifest nature, which is eternal and is transcendental to this manifested and unmanifested matter. It is supreme and is never annihilated. When all in this world is annihilated, that part remains as it is.

अनुवाद

इसके अतिरिक्त एक अन्य अव्यय प्रकृति है, जो शाश्र्वत है और इस व्यक्त तथा अव्यक्त पदार्थ से परे है | यह परा (श्रेष्ठ) और कभी न नाश होने वाली है | जब इस संसार का सब कुछ लय हो जाता है, तब भी उसका नाश नहीं होता |
